StarCityGames.com has launched an updated StarCityGames.com Judge Rewards page for 2014 and beyond with some exciting changes!
- The StarCityGames.com Judge Rewards “Tree of Knowledge” playmat logo will be featured on Sleeves and Deck Boxes that can be purchased with Judge Reward points! (Coming Fall 2014)
- Judges can now redeem points for their own StarCityGames.com Judge Shirt to be used at StarCityGames.com Open Series events or at StarCityGames.com Invitational Qualifiers!
- Judges now accumulate points faster, earning five points per day for floor judging! (All judges’ previous point totals have been updated to reflect the new distributions.)
- Judges are now eligible for custom tokens! Redeem 400 Judge Reward points and we will work with you to create a custom token with your image to be distributed to all judges at future StarCityGames.com Open Series events. The judge redeeming for the token also will receive 500 copies of the token for personal use.
So check your Judge Point Balance and start making plans to redeem for your favorite rewards! If you have any questions, we invite you to contact [email protected].
In addition to the relaunch of the StarCityGames.com Judge Rewards page, StarCityGames.com will also be making some changes to the compensation that we offer to Judges at our events. Previously there was no difference in compensation for judges of different levels. Changes are as follows:
- Level 1 Judges – 1.5 Compensation Units Per Day (Effective July 19th, 2014 - StarCityGames.com Open Series Baltimore and StarCityGames.com Knoxville Classic)
With the changing level requirements of the Magic Judge Program over the past few years, we feel that what we can expect of judges at different levels has also changed. We do not take reducing compensation lightly, but the StarCityGames.com Open Series and Classic Series are Competitive REL events and require skills that are not prerequisites for the current Level 1 certification. While we will reserve a few slots on each staff for developing the next Level 2s, Level 1 judges will make up a smaller percentage of the staff in the future.
- Level 2 Judges – 2 Compensation Units Per Day
Although there is no compensation change for Level 2 judges, we will place a higher priority on selecting more judges who have proven their readiness for larger, Competitive REL events by certifying for Level 2. Going forward, Level 2 judges will make up a much higher percentage of the judge staff.
- Level 3+ Judges – 2.5 Compensation Units Per Day (Effective immediately - StarCityGames.com Open Series Dallas)
As the best judges in the world, Level 3s, 4s, and 5s contribute more to events than just their work on the floor. The presence of these expert judges helps to provide resources for the rest of staff as well as additional pairs of experienced eyes to spot issues before they affect our players. StarCityGames.com feels strongly that having Level 3 judges on the floor of an event improves the experience for players and other judges. Because of this, once we opened the door to tiered compensation, recognizing these judges with additional compensation was clearly the correct choice.
These changes are all designed to maintain the exceptional player experience that StarCityGames.com strives to create. We invite you to submit any feedback to [email protected].
