On top of the World Magic Cup and the Magic World Championship, There were two other large Magic tournaments this past weekend: The StarCityGames.com Open Series in Minneapolis and the StarCityGames.com Classic Series in Knoxville!
Mankato, Minnesota native Sean Weihe took down the Standard Open with Jund, defeating Devin Weiss' Naya in the finals of #SCGMINN in a rematch of the finals of the previous week's #SCGINVI. Then in Legacy, the big boys Shardless BUG and Deathblade were told to take a seat on the bench as Goblins and ANT took center stage. In the end, Kenny Dungar's Goblins (backed up by Thalia, Guardian of Thraben and Ethersworn Canonist) took down Jake Xu's Storm deck to take the trophy! Meanwhile in Knoxville, The top 16 was littered with StarCityGames.com writers: Brian Braun-Duin (10th), Kenny Castor (13th), Brad Nelson (14th), and Chris VanMeter (15th) all were just below the cutoff line for the playoff rounds. But the tournament was won by Heath Perdue with a unique take on G/W Aggro featuring Archangel of Thune and Trostani, Selesnya's Voice. To see the top decks from the event, see below:
