Chris Kiritz, business manager for Magic Online, in his article Magic Online Program Update: 2012 MOCS Champs, GP Trials, Promo Codes, and More, had several important announcements concerning MTGO. Included in these announcements were:

• Adding the sixteen 2012 MOCS (Magic Online Championship Series) Championship contenders to the invite list for either Pro Tour Dragon's Maze or Friends in either San Diego, California, or Dublin, Ireland (their choice).

• All future MOCS finalists will receive an invitation to a Magic Pro Tour based on the qualifier season in which MOCS Season Finals was held.

• The addition of Grand Prix Trials to Magic Online, starting April 6, with a Trial for GP Portland. If the Magic Online Trial for Grand Prix Portland is successful, they will then potentially host additional trials in the future.

• Introduction of promotional codes that can be entered for products online, beginning March 13, 2013, such as by purchasing paper products, attending events and conventions, or interacting on social media.

• The first promo code is for the Thursday Night Magic Online promo version of Avacyn's Pilgrim. Code: MTGOCodeLaunch (see image below)

• The next major update to the Magic Online Beta Client will occur during the March 13 downtime as well.

• Trade limit will be increased from 75 to 400 items at a time.
