The first major Standard tournament with Gatecrash happened at the StarCityGames.com Open Series in Atlanta last weekend, and both formats looks wide open from the get go.
First, Standard. Joseph Herrera defeated StarCityGames.com writer and Versus contributor Brian Braun-Duin in the all Humans final, taking his Naya Humans to the top spot over BBD's Human Reanimator combo. Both decks featured new cards prominently, Herrera making use of Frontline Medic and Braun-Duin employing Cartel Aristocrat to great effect.
Then in Legacy, Tony Chu added a third Legacy Open trophy to his resume with Punishing Jund, a deck that placed three competitors in the top 4. He defeated Griffin Hansen playing Charbelcher in the finals, meaning the all-in combo deck did not claim its first ever Legacy Open trophy in Georgia.
