Announced January 28, 2013, Wizards of the Coast has made public details for the Dragon's Maze prerelease. Among the more interesting features, the DGM prerelease will feature:
- One prerelease card, not five (as has been the case in both RTR and GTC). Also, the prerelease card will not be playable in your prerelease deck.
- All Dragon's Maze booster packs (not just prerelease ones) will have the fifteenth slot, typically reserved for a basic land, filled by a non-basic land. These will be either common Guildgates or rare shocklands and show up in packs at their original rate. It was also confirmed that there is a mythic rare land in DGM that will be in the land slot at mythic rate.
- The structure of the prerelease will be a 'maze.' Players will work to get their chosen guild through the 'Implicit Maze' each round. There are prizes for each guild that gets all the way through the maze, and additional prizes for the first guild that completes it. When the maze is completed, all participating players will receive a premium (foil) basic land promo card. This sounds similar to the Avacyn Restored 'Helvault' promotion, which was very popular.
Prerelease events for Dragon's Maze will be held April 27-28, 2013. For more details and to see the official announcement, visit the official announcement page.
