Trevor Humphries made it two in a row for Jeskai Aggro on the Open Series, following Kevin Jones’ win in Edison, NJ with a victory of his own in Worcester, MA. Humphries burned his way to the top, besting a Top 8 with three Abzan Midrange decks, another copy of Jeskai Aggro, Boss Sligh, G/B Devotion, and a Temur Midrange build.

Humphries’ new take on the proven deck replaced Goblin Rabblemaster with three copies of Brimaz, King Of Oreskos and a one-of Narset, Enlightened Master. He defeated Dylan Murphy, playing Tom Ross’ Boss Sligh Louisiana States winning list, in the finals. David Shiels, winner of the Legacy Open in Providence earlier this year, also made the Top 8 with Jeskai Aggro, falling in the semis. Andrew Boswell made his third Open Top 8 of the year with Abzan Midrange.

Humphries’ winning ways weren’t finished, however. He piloted Kiki Pod through the Modern Premier IQ to add a plaque to go along with his trophy on the weekend. The Modern win made him just the second two-time winner on an Open Series weekend, the other being Gerry Thompson’s back-to-back Open wins in Pittsburgh in 2011.

In Legacy, Treasure Cruise made a bigger mark on the format after Bob Huang won the Edison, NJ Legacy Open with U/R Delver, packing a full playset of the Khans of Tarkir common. While Ben Glancy’s winning Epser Deathblade list in Worcester only had three copies of the new Ancestral Recall, the Top 8 was littered with the delve spell. Alex Bertoncini and Steven Hicks reached the Top 8 with U/R Delver with four copies of Treasure Cruise and Joan Anton Mateo’s Temur Delver list had three copies. Glancy defeated Nicholas Malatesta, playing Elves, in the finals. Malatesta beat his friend, Jonathan Morawski, in a 74/75 card mirror in the quarterfinals .

Brad Nelson made the Top 8 with a Mardu Midrange build with Butcher of the Horde and Hordeling Outburst.
