Major Magic: The Gathering Set Release Changes Announced

Mark Rosewater announced on DailyMTG.com that Magic: The Gathering is changing its set release structure and Standard rotation policy starting Fall 2015, after the release of the Magic 2016 Core Set.
The new structure consists of two-set blocks (usually large-small), with two blocks presented per year. Magic 2016 will be the last Core Set, as the annual Core Sets are being phased out to fit the new two-block plan.
Further, Standard will consist of three two-set blocks beginning Spring 2016. The first two sets of Khans of Tarkir, Khans and “Dewey,” will rotate out, leaving “Louie” and the Magic 2016 Core Set in Standard. After the change, Standard will rotate every six months, not every year, and always contain either five or six sets.
