At the StarCityGames.com Open Weekend in Dallas, an astounding 778 players came out to play Standard. Nicholas Schoolcraft piloted Mono-Black Devotion to the victory, winning over Jason Blackmor's G/W Aggro. With three G/W Aggro decks in the Standard Open's Top 16, it will be interesting to see how the metagame adjusts to this strong showing.
The Dallas Legacy Open saw Colin Chilbert, who made Top 8 in the Standard Open with R/W Burn, return to the single-elimination rounds with High Tide. The finals, however, came down to grinder Joe Losset with UWR Miracles and local Eddie Solis with UWR Delver. Solis kept the trophy in Texas, winning in three games.
At Grand Prix Philadelphia, StarCityGames.com writer Frank Skarren proved his skills in Limited, dispatching Hall of Famer William "Huey" Jensen in the quarterfinals and Worlds runner-up Reid Duke in the finals to claim the trophy.
