Grand Prix Beijing was the largest Magic tournament ever held in mainland China with 1010 players registered. Noted Japanese professional Yuuya Watanabe notched his 20th Grand Prix Top 8 and seventh title, tying him with Kai Budde for the most Grand Prix victories. Watanabe's Mono-Black Standard deck was notable for its four copies of Staff of the Death Magus in the sideboard, helping him navigate a burn-heavy field on his way to the win.
