Executive Producer for Magic Online Worth Wollpert made public major changes to Premier-level play on Magic Online in an announcement entitled Changes to Magic Online today. In part, his announement said the following:
"I wanted to take a moment to personally apologize for the issues on Magic Online over the past couple of days, especially with regard to the premier-level events... Because of these issues and your feedback, we are suspending all Daily Events, Premier Events, PTQs, and MOCS events on Magic Online beginning with tomorrow's downtime."
Magic Online had two large events, one of the flagship MOCS events and one online PTQ, crash over the weekend. These are the most recent examples of events that unexpectedly malfunctioned for the program, which was first launched in 2002. The public response on social media was particularly loud this past weekend, and the reaction to this newest announcement has also generated a lot of reaction.
The suspension of Premier play includes not only Magic Online Championship Series (MOCS) events and MTGO PTQs, which were the two types of major events this past weekend that crashed, but also all Premier events and Daily events. Queue-level events and 8-mans will remain open and will be further supplemented going forward.
