The StarCityGames.com Open Series in Charlotte, North Carolina, took place over the weekend and it was the very first (non-Team) Sealed Open, but that was far from the only Magic event that took place last Saturday and Sunday. Grand Prix Beijing, Grand Prix Portland, and SCG Classic Pittsburgh also crowned champions over the weekend. Let's take a gander at the action!
After the dominant performances turned in by Jund and Reanimator in last week's Standard Open it would have been easy to assume one of the two boogeymen of the format would take the top slot at #SCGCHAR as well... but Saturday's Standard Open was instead taken by R/G Aggro! Steve Kaufmann used the power of fire (and of Stromkirk Noble) to earn the win.
Then on Sunday, SCG Versus video series star Brian Braun-Duin came up just short in the finals against Joshua Snyder, who becomes the very first StarCityGames.com Sealed Open champion. His Bant colored deck, featuring a copy of Mystic Genesis, finished off Brian and the rest of the top 8 on the way to the win.

Meanwhile in the Steel City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Justin Tracy scored a big win for Naya in the finals of #SCGPITT over Elliot Smith's unique Junk-colored Immortal Servitude deck. Both Ruric Thar, the Unbowed and Gisela, Blade of Goldnight (combo!) make appearances for Justin... as does the suddenly less popular pair of Huntmaster of the Fells and Thragtusk!

At the weekend's Modern Grand Prix in Portland, Oregon, Sam Pardee finally got the Modern GP win he desired after finishing second at GP Toronto. Sam took Melira-Pod to the very top, and took two copies of Dragon's Maze Mythic Voice of Resurgence along for the journey. In a top 8 that also featured Zvi Mowshowitz, Paul Reitzl, and Matt Nass, winning this stacked #GPPort just before the Pro Tour is no small feat. Congrats, Sam!

In China's capital, Zhou Quan took only one loss on the entire weekend to become the 2013 Grand Prix Beijing winner. Zhou drafted Junk Populate in the top 8 with heavy hitters Growing Ranks and Pontiff of Blight to make his enormous army even more potent. 894 players came hoping to win the GP, but only one could emerge victorious. Congrats, Zhou, winner of #GPBeijing!
