Wizards of the Coast verified that Slivers would be returning in both Magic 2014 and Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 on their Twitter and Instagram pages yesterday. Additionally, Sealed play will be available for the first time in Duels of the Planeswalkers starting with the summer 2014 release of the program.
Slivers are a popular 'tribe' from Magic's past, debuting in 1998 as part of Tempest, having been a part of several blocks since then, and spawning its own From the Vault. Copies of Sliver Queen quickly disappeared from outlets, but Wizards of the Coast has confirmed that, as Sliver Queen is on the Reserved List, it will not be reprinted in M14.
The new Slivers are viewable on Magic's Facebook page: Groundshaker Sliver, Blur Sliver, Battle Sliver, Sentinel Sliver, Steelform Sliver, and Striking Sliver. The key differect between this new generation of Slivers, mechanically speaking, is the inclusion of "you control" to their abilities. Slivers from past sets influenced all Slivers on the battlefield, not just those their controller controlled.
Additionally, sources are saying that several other Sliver cards would be appearing in Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014. Some of the names of those cards are Thorncaster Sliver, Megantic Sliver, and Hive Stirrings, which will be a sorcery that created Sliver tokens.
Another addition to Duels 2014 will be the inclusion of Sealed format, which will allow players to immerse themselves even further into competitive Magic with the addition of this Limited format. Players will have the chance to create Sealed decks with 6 pack (84-card) emulated Sealed pools in the newest Duels release.
Magic 2014 (#M14) will be released July 29, 2013 and Duels of the Planeswalkers 2014 (#DotP) will come out later this summer as well.
