With an Open, a Classic, and an Grand Prix taking place over the weekend, we have a lot of results to get to!
The StarCityGames.com Open Series in Milwaukee was the big weekend for American Magic this weekend, and our two champions are Bryan Fisher and Adam Jansen! Bryan took Jund to the top slot, while Adam gathered the Legacy Open trophy with Sneak and Show. One of the other notable news items from the weekend is the pair of high finishes with rogue decks from Jeff Hoogland, who took RUG Flash in Standard to 3rd place and followed that up with a finals appearance playing 4-Color Loam.
There were some great decks this weekend, so whether you're planning on playing in an upcoming PTQ, Grand Prix, or this weekend's #WMCQDC extravaganza in Washington, DC, you'll want to check out the latest developments from this event:
In addition to the tournament in Wisconsin, another tournament took place in Maryland. The SCG Classic Series in Hagerstown was taken down by none other than our very own Brad Nelson with The Aristocrats: Act Two. Aftetr top 8ing the Atlanta Open last week, Brad improved on his appearance there with a win and a trophy!
Overseas in Strasbourg, Germany, #GPStras was taking place and the winner of ththat 1,365 player Legacy tournament was Thomas Enevoldsen. He and fellow countryman Michael Bonde made the top 8 with a new take on Death and Taxes. The Team Rocket teammates are no strangers to the Open Series, and you might recall that both Enevoldsen and Bonde came to the US after qualifying for last year's Invitational in Atlanta and also played in the first tournaments after Return to Ravnica became legal at #SCGCIN, where Enevoldsen finished in the top 4 of the Legacy Open... with Death and Taxes!
D&T wasn't the only oft-forgotten Legacy archetype to make a return to the big stage, as copies of RUG Delver, Maverick, and Merfolk also made the top 8. You're not going to want to miss checking out the coverage:
