Vintage Power 9 Series Day 2 Metagame Breakdown
All players with 15 points made Day 2, meaning 43 players would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Vintage Power 9 Series. To no surprise, the return of Vintage to the SCG Tour® means the return of Mishra’s Workshop. The powerful land showed up in 13 of the 43 decks on Day 2, with Shops being the top deck with 11 copies. Stax and Terra Nova, different takes on Workshop decks, also made the second day of competition. Notably, Traxos, Scourge of Kroog of Dominaria made an appearance in a handful of the Workshop builds.
Jeskai Mentor took the No. 2 slot, headlining the blue stew decks in the format. Dredge had four pilots, while Paradoxical+Outcome decks showed up next in different forms, three being storm and three being Mentor-based. Jeskai Control, taking advantage of Teferi%2C+Hero+of+Dominaria, had three copies, one ahead of Grixis Thieves as the more controlling blue strategies. Thieves takes advantage of synergies between Dack+Fayden and Notion+Thief, while Jeskai Control is more of a traditional control build.
