The first wild card match of Day 2 looks to be a long one as Joe and Logan bring Five-Color Bring+to+Light and Abzan Aggro to the table. Which player will advance to play Todd Anderson in the Top 8?

Game 1

Joe looks to light up the competition.

Joe started with a Polluted+Delta and Lumbering+Falls while Logan played Shambling+Vent and a Canopy+Vista. Joe decided to fetch a Prairie+Stream at the end of the turn, untapped, and played another Polluted+Delta before passing. Logan made the first play of the game on his third turn, an Anafenza%2C+the+Foremost but Joe fetched a Swamp at the end of the turn and exiled it with Abzan+Charm.

Joe fetched another Swamp and landed Siege+Rhino on an empty board while Logan kept up with his own 4/5. Joe passed after missing a land drop and Logan resolved a second Rhino, leading Joe to exile one of them with an Abzan+Charm. Joe found a Wooded+Foothills and fetched a Cinder+Glade and passed after playing a Morph. Logan resolved a Gideon%2C+Ally+of+Zendikar and made a Knight before passing the turn, prompting Joe to flip his Den+Protector and get back an Abzan+Charm from his graveyard.

Joe sent his Rhino at Gideon so Logan put both of his creatures in front of it but Joe had Silumgar's Command to kill the Gideon and shrink the opposing Rhino, letting him clear Logan's board with one move. Logan had a replacement Gideon to make another knight and used his remaining mana to kill Joe's Rhino with a Murderous+Cut. Joe used his rebought Abzan+Charm to grow his Den+Protector and sent the 5/4 at Gideon to take it down then used a Complete+Disregard to clear away the Knight token.

Logan, on his last card, went to 19 with an Abzan+Charm to draw two more and sent his Shambling+Vent at Joe. Joe knocked Logan to 16 with his Den+Protector and played a post-combat Rhino to take him down to 13. Logan didn’t have many options and settled for playing a Wingmate+Roc and exiled Joe's Den+Protector with an Abzan+Charm.

Joe knocked Logan down to 9 with his Siege+Rhino and cleared the Roc away with Languish. Logan got in with a Shambling to even life totals at 11 and played an Heir+of+the+Wilds to end his turn. Joe kept his Rhino back on defense and played a Morph before passing the turn. Logan's next turn offered no plays so Joe flipped a Den+Protector to get back a Rhino, untapped, and attacked with his two creatures. Logan animated both of his Vents and triple-blocked the Rhino. Joe opted to kill one Vent, resulting in Logan gaining one life through combat, though he fell to 9 after Joe's Rhino.

Logan found Silk Wrap to exile Joe's Den+Protector and passed back, leading Joe to draw to cards with Abzan+Charm at the end of the turn. Joe pondered on his turn, but decided to sit back after going up on cards and Logan did the same after his draw step. Joe used Bring+to+Light to get Kologhan's Command to kill the Heir+of+the+Wilds and get back his Siege+Rhino then attacked with Rhino to drop Logan to five when he offered no blocks. Joe finished up his turn fetching up a Forest to play the new Rhino and dropped Logan to 2.

The Rhinos kept coming as Logan played his own to go back to 5 and Joe held back his attacks, choosing to play Jace, Vryn's Prodigy and set up for his next turn. Logan kept Jace in check with a Murderous+Cut and passed back, leaving them both where they were a turn ago. Joe decided to fire up the Lumbering+Falls and attacked with the team. Logan animated his Vents and put his Rhino on the land and his Vents in front of a Rhino. Joe had an Abzan+Charm to exile the opposing Rhino and dropped Logan to 2 while keeping his Falls alive. Logan looked at his next card but saw no path to victory and grabbed his deck box to start sideboarding.

Game 2

Logan figures out his next play.

Joe was first to the board, landing Jace, Vryn's Prodigy on the second turn as Logan fetched up a Plains to get his mana base online. Logan added a Bloodstained+Mire to his board, but passed for a third straight turn with no play. Joe also played a Mire and passed as Logan searched up a Smoldering+Marsh and drew two cards with an Abzan+Charm. Logan untapped and fetched a Canopy+Vista to play a Siege+Rhino and tied the players at 17 as Joe looted with Jace at the end of the turn.

Joe went to 16 to fetch his own Smoldering+Marsh so he could kill the Rhino with a Self-Inflicted+Wound and passed after adding Lumbering+Falls to his board. Logan used a Painful+Truths to draw three cards and spent the rest of his mana to exile Jace with Silk Wrap, leading Joe to loot in response. Joe landed a Siege+Rhino on his next turn to drop Logan to 8 and passed the turn, with Logan having a grip full of cards.

Logan had his own Rhino to go up to 11 and drop Joe to 15 and ended his turn by playing Mastery+of+the+Unseen. Joe turned his Rhino sideways and Logan blocked with his, leading Joe to grow his with Abzan+Charm to kill Logan's and trample over for one. Joe capped off his turn with a new Jace. Logan drew three more cards, falling to 7, with another Painful+Truths before playing Self-Inflicted+Wound to take care of Joe's Rhino.

Joe got to untap with Jace and looted to flip him, immediately upping Jace on no targets. Joe then used Bring+to+Light to find another Rhino, dropping Logan to 4. Logan took care of the next Rhino with another Self-Inflicted+Wound, then fetched a Forest and played a Morph. Joe used Jace to flash back Bring+to+Light and found another Rhino so Logan responded by flipping his Den+Protector to gain a life from Mastery+of+the+Unseen and got back Self-Inflicted+Wound before falling to one.

Logan used the Wound to clear away the Rhino and killed the Jace with his Den+Protector and passed the turn. Joe tanked for a bit and passed, leading Logan to play Secure+the+Wastes for five at the end of the turn and Joe took the opportunity to play Utter+End of the Mastery. Logan  resolved Gideon on his next turn and made an emblem, animated his Vent and attacked for exactly lethal.

Game 3

Joe, on a mulligan to six, opened the deciding game on Polluted+Delta and Plains while Logan had a pair of Shambling+Vents. Another turn of land-go went by as Joe went to 18 to fetch a Canopy+Vista and a Sunken+Hollow. Joe untapped and played Siege+Rhino after adding an Island to his mana base and Logan fetched a Forest from his Wooded+Foothills and drew two cards at the end of the turn with an Abzan+Charm. Logan used a Self-Inflicted+Wound to take down the Rhino and passed after playing a Plains. Joe didn't miss a beat, replacing the Rhino with another one and Logan once again had the Wound to remove it. Logan also used the opportunity to land Mastery+of+the+Unseen as Joe fetched a Smoldering+Marsh at the end of the turn.

Joe played Nissa%2C+Vastwood+Seer and played the Forest before passing. Logan had the third Self-Inflicted+Wound, but Joe protected his Planeswalker with a Negate. Logan was determined to get Nissa off the board and wrapped her in Silk before passing the turn. Joe refueled with a Treasure+Cruise and passed after adding a Cinder+Glade to his board. Joe played a Morph and passed as Logan fetched a Sunken+Hollow at the end of the turn and made a Manifest from the Mastery and drew two more cards with an Abzan+Charm, leading Joe to kill the Manifest with Complete+Disregard.

Logan loaded up his board with a Gideon, making a token, and a Siege+Rhino before passing the turn. Joe flipped his Den+Protector at the end step and decided to get back his Rhino. Joe sent his Den+Protector into the red zone and Logan blocked with Rhino and Joe cleared the creatures with Crux+of+Fate before playing his Rhino to bring Logan to 8. Logan cashed in his Gideon for an emblem and played another one, making a token, and passed. Joe played another Rhino, knocking Logan down to 5, and Logan made a Manifest at the end of the turn.

Logan played a land and passed, immediately realizing he forgot to use Gideon for the turn and Joe started his next turn by sending both Rhinos at Logan. Logan made a Manifest and put it and his Vent in front of one Rhino and a Knight and another Manifest in front of the other. After blocks, Joe used Silumgar's Command to shrink the Vent and bounce a Rhino. Joe killed the Vent and the Manifest and replayed his Rhino to put Logan at 2 and brought him up to 25. Logan went to 1 off his Llanowar+Wastes to kill the untapped Rhino with Murderous+Cut, animated his Vent and attacked for go up to 4.

Joe played a land and passed with a growing army on the opposite side of the table. Logan cashed in his Gideon for another emblem and attacked with his Vent, which was now a 4/5. Joe blocked and Logan went up to 8. Joe drew a card and had no action, letting Logan make a Manifest at the end of the turn. Logan fired up the Vent and send his entire team into the red zone. Joe blocked the second Manifest and Logan flipped the other Manifest to be a Rhino and Joe ended up at 4 and Logan went 16 after Mastery of the Vent's lifelink.

Joe played a Morph on his next turn and passed the turn, leading Logan to animated the Vent and attack with the team. Joe flipped his Den+Protector, but no card he could get back could get him out of the spot and extended the hand.

Logan 2, Joe 1
