Todd and Caleb had great performances last weekend at the Season Four Invitational, though Caleb's finish stole the spotlight as he won the whole thing to earn his slot to the Players' Championship. Caleb hasn't lost a match yet in the #SCGPC, can his run continue in Modern with Affinity or will Todd end his streak with Temur Twin?

Game 1

Caleb looks to keep at his winning ways.

Both players kept their openers and Todd started the action with a Gitaxian+Probe, seeing a potent hand across from him. With the information, Todd went to 15 for an untapped Breeding+Pool and played Serum+Visions. Caleb started his turn with a Springleaf+Drum off a Darksteel+Citadel and played an Ornithopter which let him play the Vault+Skirge and a Welding+Jar before passing. Todd used another Serum+Visions and passed after playing a Sulfur+Falls. Caleb tapped his Citadel and a Glimmervoid for a Steel+Overseer and attacked with his Skirge. Todd used a Lightning+Bolt on the Overseer, but Caleb regenerated it with the Jar.

Todd played a Deceiver+Exarch to untap a land and fired off a Dismember on the Steel+Overseer before passing. Caleb refueled with a Thoughtcast and played Cranial+Plating and equipped it to his Skirge, which attacked. Todd attacked for one and passed, playing a Vendilion+Clique in Caleb's draw step, getting rid of an Arcbound+Ravager. Caleb slammed down a Blinkmoth+Nexus and a Mox+Opal and played another Ravager, but Todd responded by killing the Skirge with a Lightning+Bolt. Caleb attached the Plating to his Ornithopter and attacked so Todd traded his Clique for it. Caleb suited up the Ravager with the Plating and passed.

Todd took a draw and passed with no play other than a land drop. Caleb animated his Nexus and tried to attack so Todd tapped it down with a new Exarch and blocked the suited up Ravager. Caleb sacrificed the Drum to grow his Exarch and passed back. Todd sat back with just his Exarch and passed, but he ran out of tricks when Caleb animated the Nexus and attacked with the team.

Game 2

Todd tries to slow down the Caleb Scherer train.

Todd kept his opener and led off with a Gitaxian+Probe to see a much slower hand from his opponent this game, while Caleb, on a mulligan to six, played Inkmoth+Nexus, Vault+Skirge, and Ornithopter. Todd landed Tarmogoyf on his second turn while Caleb played a Glimmervoid and attacked with his Nexus and Skirge. Todd went to 15 to fetch a Mountain and used Electrolyze to kill the Skirge and hit Caleb for one and attacked with his Tarmogoyf.

Caleb looked to find some action by playing Thoughtcast and passed after finding a Blinkmoth+Nexus. Todd used a Twisted+Image on the Ornithopter and attacked Caleb down to 8 with his fiver-power Tarmogoyf. Todd elected to go to 13 with a Snapcaster+Mage, flashing back Gitaxian+Probe. Todd went down two more for another Probe and passed the turn. Caleb played an Etched+Champion to stall the Tarmogoyf and shipped the turn.

Todd attacked with his team and Caleb chumped the Tarmogoyf, taking two from the Snapcaster+Mage. Todd passed the turn and Caleb played an Ornithopter and Cranial+Plating to get a discounted Thoughtcast. Todd played Vendilion+Clique on the end of the turn, targeting himself to get rid of a Splinter+Twin, untapped, and attacked with his team and flashed a Lightning+Bolt to send the match to a third game.

Game 3

Caleb, on the play, tossed his opener back, while Todd was happy with his seven in the deciding game. Both players had just a land for their first turns and Caleb had a Blinkmoth+Nexus, Ornithopter, and Arcbound+Ravager on his second turn. Caleb's Ravager grew when Todd went for a Bolt on the Ornithopter so he untapped and killed it for good with a Roast. Caleb got in for one with his Nexus and played another Blinkmoth as Todd played a Breeding+Pool and Gitaxian+Probe. Caleb sent in his Nexuses and Todd Bolted one of them, untapped and played a Tarmogoyf.

Caleb landed an Etched+Champion and passed as Todd stayed back on defense. Caleb activated two Nexuses and sent the team in, leading Todd to play Snapcaster+Mage to flash back Bolt on one of them. Caleb ended his turn, bringing Todd to 6 with a Galvanic+Blast. Todd attacked back with his team, and passed the turn. Todd used Electrolyze to take down the last Nexus and went to 4 from the Champion. Caleb passed after adding a Signal+Pest to his board.

Todd used Twisted+Image on the Pest and put Caleb to 5 with his attack, passed, and used Ancient+Grudge on Caleb's Mox+Opal in his upkeep. Caleb played a Memnite and passed, keeping the Champion back. Todd killed the Memnite with his Izzet+Staticaster, attacked with the team and passed. Caleb dropped a Signal+Pest, but Todd ripped a Lightning+Bolt and had him covered in more ways than one.
