Day 2 Metagame Breakdown
All teams with 19 points or more made Day 2, meaning 25 teams would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Team Modern Open at #SCGPITT. While Bridgevine was the boogeyman of the format heading into the weekend, the scary graveyard deck took the No. 2 spot in the field, with 25 percent of the metagame share. Izzet Phoenix, the most popular deck before Modern Horizons, maintains the top spot in the second day of competition taking almost a third of the slots in Day 2. In fact, three teams chose to sleeve up Izzet Phoenix across the board, while just one team registered triple Bridgevine.
Following way behind the top dogs, Humans, Grixis Urza, Mono-Red Phoenix, and Eldrazi Tron fill out the rest of the field with three or more copies. While Humans got some new tools from Modern Horizons, the real winner (other than Bridgevine) from the newest set is Grixis Urza, harnessing the power of Urza, Lord High Artificer, Goblin+Engineer, and Arcum’s Astrolabe.
