All players with 15 points made Day 2, meaning 153 players would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Season Two Invitational. The split-format event showcased Modern and Standard with the first half of each day being four rounds of Modern followed by four rounds of Standard.
Roughly a third of the Day-2 field opted to sleeve up Overgrown+Tomb in Standard as 49 players looked for the best build of Golgari Midrange. Jeskai Control took the second spot in solid fashion with 25 pilots, followed by Boros Aggro at 17. Izzet builds took spots four and five with 14 players choosing the Arclight+Phoenix construction while 12 players went with eight drakes and no copies of the mythic Phoenix.
Arclight+Phoenix is for real in Modern following Ross Merriam’s win with Izzet Phoenix last weekend in Baltimore, leading to this weekend’s most-played Modern deck at 15 copies. Bant Spirits is right behind with 14 copies on Day 2, followed by Mono-Green Tron at 12 and Jeskai Control at 10, rounding out the decks in double digits.
