All teams with 19 points or more made Day 2, meaning 28 teams would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Team Constructed Open at #SCGCOL. Guilds of Ravnica Standard is finally here, and the set has had quite the impact of the format. After red’s dominance in the previous Standard format, it is back but in a new way this time. Instead of Kari Zev, Chandra, Torch of Defiance, and Hazoret, the red aggressive decks are focused around burn with Risk+Factor and the powerful enchantment, Experimental+Frenzy. Mono-Red Aggro paced the Day-2 field with nine players sleeving up 20-plus Mountains, and most packed Experimental+Frenzy in the main or the sideboard in varying numbers.

Selesnya Tokens shows up next with four pilots opting for a go-wide strategy leveraging March of the Multitudes, Saproling+Migration, and Trostani+Discordant. Goglari Midrange is up next with three players utilizing the power of cards like Doom+Whisperer, Assassin’s Trophy, and Find/Finality. At two copies each, Boros Angels and Mono-Green Aggro rounded out the archetypes with multiple players. The two Boros Angels decks varied with one being more aggressive and the other aiming for a midrange game. Mono-Green Aggro splashed black for some sideboard cards and a couple copies of Assassin’s Trophy.

Control decks of varying flavors took up most of the decks with only one pilot, spanning Esper, Jeskai, Grixis, Sultai, and Dimir.

In Modern, Celestial+Colonnade decks took up nine of the of the 28 slots with five copies of Jeskai and four copies of Azorius Control. Humans had four pilots, while Burn took the fourth slot with three pilots alongside Mono-Green Tron. One-of decks include Dredge with Creeping Chill, Bant Spirits, Elves, and other usual suspects.

In Legacy, Grixis Control maintains the top spot with seven copies, followed by Miracles at five. Four decks had two pilots, including Dimir Shadow, Death and Taxes, Eldrazi Post, and Grixis Delver. Check out each format’s Day 2 metagame breakdown below.
