Day 2 Metagame Breakdown
All players with 21 points made Day 2, meaning 67 players would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Modern Open at #SCGNY. With the rise of Humans and Spirits, it’s only fitting that Burn has had a huge resurgence in the Modern metagame. Not only is Burn back, but it tops the field as the most-played deck on Day 2 of #SCGNY with 11 copies, edging out Humans by one pilot.
Azorius Control has surpassed Jeskai Control as the top Celestial+Colonnade deck in the field with six copies, followed by Bant Spirits at five, and Hardened Scales Affinity with four. Storm is the last deck with more than two pilots on Day 2, with pilots like Bryant Cook and Paul Muller championing the combo deck.
Amulet Titan, Elves, and Jeskai Control each had two pilots, capping the decks with multiple copies. Rogue strategies with one copy include: Living+End, 8-Rack, Izzet Wizards, Sultai Midrange, and Blue Moon.
