Day 2 Metagame Breakdown
All players with 18 points made Day 2, meaning 129 players would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Modern Open at #SCGBALT. Humans is back at the top of the metagame and showed up as 18 percent of the Day 2 field with more than double the numbers of the second-most represented deck. Burn, after a while of being barely represented in Day 2s, surged to the second spot on the second day of competition with nine pilots, all looking to take advantage of its favorable matchup against Humans.
Up next are B/R Hollow One at eight copies and U/W Control at seven copies, respectively. Four decks clocked in with six copies, including Mono-Green Tron, Jund, Ironworks, and Mardu Pyromancer. Affinity and Storm each had five pilots, a spot ahead of Grixis Shadow, B/R Vengevine, and Jeskai Control at four.
The rest of the field consist of fan favorites and fringe decks in the format with U/W Spirits highlighting the decks with at least three copies, Ad+Nauseam at two, and a smattering of one-ofs including U/B mill, U/W Nexus, Hardened Scales Affinity, Puresteel+Paladin, and Jeskai Ascension.
