Day 2 Metagame Breakdown
All teams with 19 points or more made Day 2, meaning 27 teams would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Team Constructed Open at #SCGPHILLY. The Standard metagame has condensed following #SCGWOR, with Grixis Midrange sitting atop R/B Aggro and Mono-Green Aggro. This marks the first week since Goblin+Chainwhirler decks took over the format that the triple-red card doesn’t lead the field. U/W Control had three copies while Mono-Red Aggro and R/B Midrange had two. R/B Midrange differentiates itself with a bigger curve, including Karn%2C+Scion+of+Urza to accompany Chandra%2C+Torch+of+Defiance.
U/W Control and Jeskai Control are the top decks in Modern this weekend, taking the top eight spots in the 27 decks on Day 2. Mardu Pyromancer and Grixis Death’s Shadow each had three copies, while Mono-Green Tron and Amulet Titan clocked in with two pilots. In Legacy, Death and Taxes moved to the top at four copies, edging out Temur Delver and Jeskai Stoneblade at three each. Lands, Infect, Grixis Delver, Storm, and Miracles all had two pilots apiece. For a second week in a row, graveyard-based decks were barely seen, with just one Reanimator deck making the Day-2 field. Check out each format’s Day 2 metagame breakdown below.
