All teams with 19 points or more made Day 2, meaning 26 teams would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Team Constructed Open at #SCGWOR. With Core Set 2019 in Standard and the recent banning of Deathrite+Shaman and Gitaxian Probe in Legacy, the metagame for Standard and Legacy is more evenly spread than previous events. While Goblin Chainwhirler decks are still the most popular in Standard, the decks playing it vary. R/B Aggro is the top dog with six copies, though Mono-Red Aggro and Mono-Red Flame also use the power of the first-striking 3/3. Even one copy of Grixis Midrange made use of the powerful red threat. After Chainwhirler archetypes, a handful of control decks and God-Pharaoh’s Gift decks filled out the middle of the field. U/W, Esper, and Grixis Control showed up in limited numbers, while U/W and G/U Gift made appearances.

Jeskai Control and Affinity led Modern at five copies each, followed U/W Control and Mardu Pyromancer at three players each. The rest of the Modern field plays out as expected with the exception of no Humans decks making the Day 2 cut.

In Legacy, Temur Delver is back at the top for now at five players sleeving up Nimble+Mongoose. Death and Taxes, a natural predator for Temur Delver, fittingly showed up next at four copies, also acting as a counter to Sneak and Show, the third most popular deck. Lands and Miracles still clocked in with two copies, as well as Grixis Delver, despite losing two core cards for the former best deck in the format. Notably, no copies of Reanimator or Dredge made Day 2 even with the absence of Deathrite+Shaman. Check out each format’s Day 2 metagame breakdown below.
