All players with 18 points made Day 2, meaning 154 players would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Modern Open at #SCGKY. In response to the rise of Humans and Affinity to the top of the format, Jeskai Control took the No. 1 spot in the #SCGKY Day-2 field. At just more than 10 percent, the 16 copies of Jeskai Control led the pack, edging out Humans and Affinity, with 13 and 11 copies making Day 2, respectively.

Elves and G/W Hexproof, more decks looking to take advantage of the creature-heavy decks at the top of the metagame, showed up next, with nine and eight copies, respectively. Modern staples like Burn and Jund continue to be played in numbers, while Mardu Pyromancer and Amulet Titan added to the middle of the field at seven copies. U/R Gifts Storm was the only deck at six copies, being represented by players like Caleb Scherer, Paul Muller, and Chris Andersen.

Grixis Death’s Shadow is back on the map for the first time in a while, putting up five copies along with G/R Tron. B/R Hollow+One, one of the highly lauded decks coming into the event, only has four pilots on Day 2 and is joined by G/W Company and Grixis Control. From there, archetypes all over the place fill out the rest of the field. Goryo’s As+Foretold makes a surprise appearance with two copies while decks like Ad+Nauseam, G/R Land Destruction, and R/G Hollow Vine each had one player make the cut for Day 2.
