Day 2 Metagame Breakdown
All teams with 19 points or more made Day 2, meaning 28 teams would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Team Constructed Open at #SCGBALT. Dominaria-infused Standard has had a week to evolve following the Atlanta Open weekend and the format has adjusted accordingly. U/W Control and red-based Aggro decks dominated Week 1, but decks like W/B Aggro and G/W Legends have popped up online and made their presence felt in paper this weekend. W/B Aggro, an offshoot of the Mardu Vehicle deck, has morphed into a pseudo Knight beatdown deck, slimming down to just Heart+of+Kiran and the occasional Aethersphere+Harvester. History+of+Benalia, Lyra+Dawnbringer, and Karn%2C+Scion+of+Urza all make highlight the power of Dominaria in the strongest and most-represented Standard deck on the weekend.
In Modern, Humans, Affinity, and B/R Hollow+One lead the way in a balanced Day 2 metagame. In Legacy, Grixis Delver still maintains its status as the best and most-played deck, though its numbers aren’t as high as last week in Atlanta. Miracles, Storm, and Lands take up the next few slots to no surprise, though the Lands numbers could have been higher if multiple Lands specialists didn’t opt for Turbo Depths this weekend. Check out each format’s Day 2 metagame breakdown below.
