All teams with 19 points or more made Day 2, meaning 28 teams would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Team Constructed Open at #SCGATL. Dominaria is here and its impact on Standard is starting to shape up as the highly anticipated cards are making a splash. Kar, Scion of Urza and Teferi%2C+Hero+of+Dominaria are drawing the most attention, both slotting into U/W Control decks, though Karn is popping up all over the place – even finding its way into Modern and Legacy decks. Goblin+Chainwhirler is slotting into the most-played deck on Day 2, Mono-Red Aggro, while Seal+Away appears to be the most-played card from Dominaria, flexing into any deck with white.
Mono-Red Aggro leads the Standard field at six copies, followed by R/B Aggro at four players, still showcasing the power of Hazoret+the+Fervent. Sultai Constrictor and U/W Control each had three pilots, with U/W Historic up next at two, harnessing the flexibility of Raff Capashen, Ship’s Mage. From there, a smattering of decks filled out the rest of the field.
Modern and Legacy hold steady, though Humans took 10 of the 28 Modern seats on Day 2, surpassing the dominance of even Grixis Delver in Legacy. B/R Hollow One had three pilots, followed by Burn, Affinity, and U/R Gifts Storm at two each. In Legacy, Turbo Depths overtook Lands as the next deck-to-beat in the format.
