All teams with 18 points or more made Day 2, meaning 42 teams would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Team Constructed Open at #SCGDFW. Standard takes the spotlight this weekend at the Team Open following the recent bannings and the release of Rivals of Ixalan.
After absolute domination from Energy decks and Ramunap Red, a fresh metagame has shown up in Dallas with no deck taking more than 10 percent of the meta. Mardu Vehicles has been born again taking the top spot alongside Merfolk at four copies on Day 2. Merfolk, the only tribal strategy from Ixalan to show up on Day 2, highlights the power and density of playable Merfolk in Rivals of Ixalan. Mono-Red Aggro, G/B Constrictor, and U/B Control follow up with three players each – each deck being a former player in Standard before the bans.
Modern and Legacy haven't changed much since the Team Opens in 2017. Grixis Death’s Shadow, Burn, Affinity, and Jeskai Control all still make up the biggest share of Modern decks with a distinct lack of Jund/Abzan strategies with only one copy of Jund showing up on the second day of competition. In Legacy, Grixis Delver still rules the format, taking 10 spots of the 42 seats, with Death and Taxes and Sultai Delver following up at five and three copies, respectively.
