Day 2 Metagame Breakdown
All players with 15 points made Day 2, meaning 101 players would return to battle for a shot at the Top 8 of the Season Two Invitational. The split-format event showcased Standard and Modern with the first half of each day being four rounds of Standard followed by four rounds of Modern.
For Standard, Energy decks dominated the field as 74 of the 101 decks to make Day 2 contained Attune+with+Aether. Temur Energy ranked first with 46 pilots, with Four-Color Energy having 20, followed by Sultai Pummeler with four, Sultai Energy with two, Jund Energy with one, and Temur Aggro with one. Non-Energy decks include Ramunap Red at 14, Esper Approach at four, and U/W Approach with two copies on Day 2.
In Modern, Jeskai Control took over the top spot with 14 players on the deck – some utilizing Geist+of+Saint+Traft while some ditched the three-drop creature. Grixis Death’s Shadow shows up next with 10 pilots, followed by Affinity at nine, Counters Company at eight, Eldrazi Tron at seven, and G/B Tron at six. Modern’s diversity was on display, having twice as many archetypes as Standard.
